This past weekend as the temperature rose and the snow began to melt, we were completely engulfed in the densest fog I’ve ever seen. I’m sure the temperature will drop again, but for now it feels a bit like spring and I’ve been doing lots of planning. I’m still not sure how it will all fit, but I’ve managed to narrow down my wishlist a bit and my seed orders are all in. Continue reading

July in the Garden

All through June it always feels to me like we have the whole summer ahead of us and it’s never going to end. Then the Fourth of July comes and goes and suddenly summer begins to feel like it’s slipping away. This week as we approach mid-July that feeling is creeping up on me, but I  am taking comfort in the fact that here in New England summer eating has hardly begun. Continue reading

Summer is really here.

Just in time for the first day of summer, the temperature hit 100 degrees last week. We had three days of temperatures in the upper 90s, before settling back down to the 80s for the weekend.  Saturday night there were fireworks and we rode our bikes up to the park to see them. A pretty perfect summer weekend if you ask me. June in the Garden

After the May frenzy to get everything planted, June feels like rather a quiet month in the garden. Every bed has been planted, and there’s not much to do but water and weed and wait for things to grow. We didn’t get much sun in May, but so far June has been beautiful. Everything seemed to be stalled for a few weeks, but now that the plants are enjoying some sunshine, they are really taking off. Continue reading
